Romance might be back on the cards for Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the second season of And Just Like That.

The sequel saw the writer struggling with grief after the death of long-running love interest Mr Big (Chris Noth).

But reports are circulating that the fashion icon could find love again with former flame Aidan Shaw (John Corbett).

Carrie had an on-and-off relationship with the fan-favourite in seasons three and four of the original series, breaking up twice because the New Yorker cheated on him and later couldn’t commit after they got engaged.

The furniture maker also made an appearance in film Sex and the City 2, set in Abu Dhabi, where viewers learned he was married and had three kids – which didn’t stop him from sharing a kiss with Carrie.

According to John has signed up to reprise the role of the down-to-earth carpenter for a ‘substantial, multi-episode arc’ and will ‘reunite with former love Carrie.’ Oooh er.

The 61-year-old actor has previously teased his return as Aidan, saying falsely in 2021 that he was ‘going to do the show’, adding that he would be in ‘quite a few’ of the 10 episodes.

The My Big Fat Greek Wedding actor wasn’t the only notable absence from And Just Like That, with core cast member Kim Cattrall not returning as sex-positive PR Samantha Jones.

Samantha was written out of the series because of a huge bust-up with Carrie over representing her book, but maintains a distant text relationship with the sex columnist.

In 2019, Kim explained why she would never walk in Samantha’s shoes again, saying: ‘It’s a “no” from me. You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun.’

Plot details of season two are being kept under wraps, but the first installment saw major storylines like Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) divorcing her husband for (Sara Ramirez).

Metro.co.uk has approached reps for John Corbett and HBO for comment.
