Celebrity MasterChef ditches Nancy Dell’Olio and her massive heels first after reservation confession

Despite giving viewers multiple memes and strutting into the kitchen in sky-scraper heels, found herself eliminated first in a particularly close-fought heat as the competition returned.

The Italian lawyer, most famous for , lost out to strong chefs in TV icon Paul Chuckle, comedian Kae Kurd, ’s and Danny Jones of McFly, who edged out in front of the pack with his impressive cooking.

In the, with a , Nancy was given Bramley cooking apples as her ingredient to showcase, which she turned into a desert with custard and peaches but no pastry, which judge John Torode branded an ‘interesting creation’ but ultimately ‘mushy’.

In the next round, the celebrities were tasked with re-creating a South Korean fried chicken dish, which involved Nancy opting to cook her Asian slaw, rather than leave the ingredients raw and initially soaked in brine – as is traditional.

Almost everyone ended up with their own take on the sauce, but the 60-year-old was perhaps most wide of the mark, with Gregg Wallace joking over her tasty but unrecognisable dish: ‘Rather than a Korean fried chicken you’ve done a Nancy fried chicken!’

Between her culinary endeavours, however, Nancy was delivering some wonderful one-liners, including the fact that her ‘honest’ fridge items would be ‘water, wine and champagne’.

She also confirmed that the dish she most liked to make at home was ‘a reservation’. Iconic.

However, that didn’t stop the former Strictly Come Dancing star from taking on a dish her mother had taught her during childhood, the traditional Italian classic melanzana parmigiana.

John was surprised to see Nancy deep frying her aubergine, but in the final results admitted that it gave the aubergine a lovely ‘smokiness’.

Although both he and Gregg enjoyed the taste of her dinner party dish, they did pick up on some of the vegetable strips being slightly undercooked, as well as a little wateriness – which Nancy confessed herself was ‘unexpected’ as she plated up her recipe.

Afterwards, Nancy said she was ‘a little bit disappointed with myself’, as Faye’s cookie and ice cream desert, Paul’s salmon wellington, Danny’s pan-fried wagyu beef seemed to wow the judges.

Only Kae’s rib-eye steak with mac and cheese faced potential disaster after the comic didn’t fry his meat for longer.

‘There’s probably people at home shouting at the telly “You can’t cook rib-eye rare!”’ he said afterwards.

That wobble wasn’t enough to save Nancy though, who was sent packing – but with a nod to her wardrobe.

‘The celebrity leaving us is Nancy,’ announced John, adding: ‘Love your heels, love your style, thank you very much – you’re leaving us.’

Celebrity MasterChef continues on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
