Love Island’s Dr Alex George pays tribute to late brother on second anniversary of his death: ‘I wish this was all a nightmare and I’d wake up’

star and mental health activist Dr has paid tribute to his late brother on the second anniversary of his death.

In July 2020, Llŷr  after taking his own life, with Alex saying in a statement at the time that he had ‘lost his little brother to mental health’.

In February this year, the former  star marked , writing in an Instagram caption: ‘Above all Llŷr had a good heart, he had an ability to look into your eyes and could feel exactly what you were feeling,’ and later paying tribute to his brother .

In a new post shared on the social media platform today, the 31-year-old doctor paid tribute to his younger brother, alongside a picture of the pair of them, with Alex wearing his doctors’ scrubs.

He wrote: ‘I can’t believe two years have passed.

‘This is the last time I saw you, I wish this was all a nightmare and I’d wake up.

‘Sometimes the reality, is worse than your nightmares.

‘The worst days are waking up and forgetting for a moment, because then I have to remember all over again.

‘I hate those days. One day we will meet again, I hope. I love you Llŷr, my boy.’

Fans and friends rushed to the comments to share their support, with TV personality Vicky Pattison writing: ‘Sending you love.’

Scarlett Moffatt commented: ‘Sending you and all of your family prayers and love today.’

One fan wrote: ‘I’m sure he’s watching over you with a huge smile on his face, you’ve changed so many lives fighting for awareness and acceptance, the amount of lives you have saved already will be endless.’

On his Instagram stories, Alex took a moment to thank all those supporting him, writing: ‘Thank you for your messages. These days don’t seem to get easier, maybe they will, maybe they won’t.

‘I’m going to try and think about Llyr and the memories we had.

‘I am lucky to be surrounded by loved ones today and we are going to be spending the day at the sea.

‘I find the sea always works wonders for me. I love and appreciate you all.’

In a separate slide, he added: ‘I want you to do one thing for me today.

‘Tell your loved ones that you love them. Hug them. Call them.

‘Let them know without doubt, how you feel.

‘You never know when it will be for the last time. One day, it will be.’

Earlier this year, Alex revealed he had gotten a tattoo design of his brother’s name in his own handwriting, on his right wrist underneath a symbol representing the sea.

‘Llŷr 💙 “God Of The Sea”. The most beautiful name, it means so much to have it done in his handwriting. We will never forget you my boy x,’ he wrote, explaining the meaning of the name.

Alex also uploaded a photo of where he got the handwriting from, as Llŷr had written his name on the front of what looked like a school book.
