Rose Ayling-Ellis can’t wait to ‘judge’ Strictly Come Dancing 2022 stars: ‘I’ll know if they’re doing the right dance or not’

The EastEnders actress won the glitterball trophy last year with , becoming the first Deaf competitor on the show as well as the BBC programme’s first Deaf victor.

One of the pair’s most powerful performances was their Couple’s Choice routine, which saw them celebrate the Deaf community with a powerful moment .

Reflecting on her time amongst the glitz and glamour of the ballroom, Rose revealed that she misses the ‘magical’ experience, but she can’t wait for this year’s series to begin.

‘I actually feel really excited to watch this year because now I can watch it knowing what they’ve experienced and what’s going through their minds,’ she shared, adding: ‘It will be quite a different way of watching.’

She continued to: ‘And I can actually judge if they’re doing the right dance or not. I’ll be like a judge, I’ll have to get my own number paddle!’

Rose also commented that it was ‘an honour’ to become a spokesperson for the deaf community, despite ‘a little bit of pressure’ and ‘the big responsibility’ she feels.

‘So far, it’s been so much fun and I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and enjoying myself while being that spokesperson,’ she added to the publication saying: ‘It’s definitely happened very dramatically and quickly but now people want to learn more and that’s important to me.’

Elsewhere, Rose admitted it won’t be a strange feeling to watch Giovanni dancing with his new partner, and she’s actually glad the ‘focus will be on the new couple’ and off her.
