The Capture season 2 trailer reveals first look at Paapa Esseidu in return of gripping CCTV thriller

is back! The show that made us suspicious of every CCTV camera in the country has returned and an intense first-look trailer promises it’s going to be just as gripping as before.

The first season saw soldier (Callum Turner) framed for the murder of his barrister, played by Laura Haddock, in order to protect a covert government operation called Correction.

The intelligence officers working for Correction deep-fake video footage to put terrorists on the streets behind bars, but for crimes they did not commit.

Ending on a cliffhanger, saw principled detective Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) who stumbles upon the secret service ops on the quest for justice, surprisingly join Correction – but who knows what her real motivations are?

Whileis not reprising his role for season 2, DI Carey is very much back and, if the first-look trailer is anything to go by, she is in a heck of a lot of danger.

Also new this season is, who plays politician Isaac Turner, Succession star Rob Yang, Game of Thrones’ Indira Varma, Andy Nyman and Charlie Murphy.

Meanwhile, returning stars include Cavan Clerkin, who plays Carey’s right-hand man and best friend DS Patrick Flynn, Ron Perlman, Ben Miles and Nigel Lindsay.

In the nail-biting first trailer released on Friday, fans learn there has been another brutal murder shrouded in mystery due to faked CCTV footage.

DS Flynn reveals in a voice-over: ‘Chinese national assassinated inside his own apartment. He had CCTV all over the flat, inside and out, only the shooters are nowhere to be seen.’

After showing eerie clips of a shadow making its way down an empty entrance hall of a swanky block of flats, the video cuts to Isaac.

Isaac is seen shaking the hand of an AI technology business owner and warning him the UK will never buy his product, which appears to have dire consequences.

In various scenes, he looks crestfallen and stressed, particularly after being advised by a stony-faced and deadly serious Carey to ‘be careful.’

Clearly in turmoil, Isaac breaks down and smashes up his laptop in his pristine family home.

His beloved wife later pleads with him: ‘I want the truth, Isaac.’

We don’t know what’s going on, but it’s safe to say it doesn’t look great for Isaac.

The trailer ends with shots of a visibly shaken Carey sneaking around office corridors with a nasty looking wound on her forehead.

‘Seeing is deceiving,’ the viewers are warned.

Yikes! But we can’t wait to watch it…

The Capture season 2 starts on Sunday August, 28 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
