Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones reportedly sent a notorious Republican political operative and ally of ex-President an ‘intimate’ photo of his wife.
A lawyer for Sandy Hook parents revealed the detail after he reviewed the contents of Jones’ phone from the past two years.
Jones had previously told the audience on his InfoWars show that there was an intimate photo of his wife on his phone that was in his defamation trial.
He did not mention that the photo was sent to GOP consultant and former convicted felon Roger Stone, who is a longtime friend of Trump.
‘I’m a little concerned about it, because that intimate photo was sent to Roger Stone. And I don’t know if that was consensual,’ Attorney Mark Bankston told the Young Turks in an interview on Monday night.
Bankston said he was concerned that it might violate revenge porn laws now on the books in several states. He said he was willing to give Jones the benefit of the doubt, but also noted that ‘there was nothing indicating it was (consensual).’
He confirmed that he did have to look through other ‘intimate’ photos of Jones himself, but redacted them for his staff and others to review.
Bankston also addressed exactly how he thinks Jones’ defense attorneys accidentally gave him the contents of the cell phone.
‘The real truth is – you had a lawyer who was in over his head and doesn’t do civil law that much,’ he said. ‘He did not know what to do to take his clients information seriously or how to protect it.’
Bankston called his in-court cross-examination of Jones a ‘perfect made-for-movie moment’.
‘Most trials have a discovery period where these kind of secrets come out so there are no “Perry Mason” moments,’ he added. ‘There was a real poetic justice to it.’
Bankston also confirmed that he was cooperating fully with the House of Representatives’ January 6 investigation and was handing the contents over to authorities.
‘The judge gave me full clearance, so that privilege has been waived,’ he said.
Jones was sued for defamation by the parents of victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting, an event that the conspiracy theorist formerly claimed was a ‘hoax’.
Jones was ultimately to Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose son Jesse Lewis was Ki**ed in the 2012 massacre.
