McDonald’s worker ‘shot in a fight over cold French fries’

A worker at a McDonald’s was shot and critically wounded in a reported fight with customers over cold French fries.

The employee, Matthew Webb, 23, was confronted by a 40-year-old female customer at the fast food restaurant on Fulton Street in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood around 7pm on Monday, police sources told the .

In the midst of the dispute, the woman was speaking with her 20-year-old son, Michael Morgan.

‘The mom complained that her fries were cold,’ a source told the . ‘The mom was on FaceTime with her son, and he heard the dispute between her and the clerk. The son and the clerk got into a dispute inside, and it went outside.’

Police said the son then shot the worker in his neck. The employee was transported to Brookdale Hospital and was in critical condition on Tuesday, the source said.

Witnesses told the Post that worker was unable to speak and was shaking and breathing heavily when he was placed on the ambulance stretcher.

Investigators found a bullet at the scene that matched the 9mm handgun used in the shooting.

Morgan has been arrested. His record showed 13 prior arrests including for assault and theft of service in 2018 and for grand larceny in 2019.

One of Webb’s co-workers described him as a ‘really nice guy’.

A businessman who saw Webb being put into the ambulance said he ‘took it personally’ because his own son had been shot.

‘It was really disturbing for me,’ he said.
