The New York attorney general has agreed to postpone the depositions of former President and two of his adult children in a civil investigation, due to his .
Ex-President Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr and his daughter Ivanka Trump were slated to begin their testimonies next week in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ probe into the Trump Organization’s business practices.
On Friday, the morning after Trump Jr and Ivanka’s mother died, a spokeswoman for James’ office announced that ‘this is a temporary delay and the depositions will be rescheduled as soon as possible’.
‘There is no other information about dates or otherwise to provide at this time,’ stated the spokeswoman.
‘We offer our condolences to the Trump family.’
James’ office claims it has evidence that the Trump Organization improperly reported its real estate property values in order to get more favorable loans as well as tax breaks.
Trump Jr, along with his younger brother Eric Trump who had a video deposition in October 2020, are executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization. Ivanka served as a top executive in the family business, until her father appointed her as a senior White House advisor during his presidency.
Ex-President Trump on his Truth Social platform on Thursday afternoon called Ivana a ‘wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life’.
‘Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!’ he wrote.
‘She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.’
Ivana is believed to have fallen down the stairs of her residence in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, after possibly suffering a medical episode. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.
Trump and his two eldest children in mid-June , meaning they must sit for depositions in James’ investigation.
